Wayne Shorter: The KUSP Interview

Saxophonist Wayne Shorter spoke with KUSP’s Jeff Dayton-Johnson following his performance on the Main Stage. Shorter had been meeting with young members of the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, some of whom were still in the room, and consequently some of Shorter’s comments had the tone of a teacher talking to students. He talked about music as investigation, as a component of social change, and about the deeper significance of creative expression.
